Laser Hair Removal

When considering permanent laser hair removal, we first need to understand the nature and patterns of hair growth. Hair growth is a cyclical process and develops in three stages (A,B, and C).

A. Anagen- the phase of active hair growth (full out growth or visible hair)
B. Catagen is the regressed phase, where part of the hair has stopped growing. It is not shed at this point, and the folicle is reabsorbed (Middle or second stage).
C. Telogen is the resting phase, where the old visible hairs have fallen out, in preparation for new hair (final or third stage).

As the first layer of hair (A) is exposed to the skin's surface, the two remaining hair groups/layers (B and C) lie dormant within the roots of the hair follicles.

If we choose to shave/wax/laser the exposed layer (A), any regrowth will come from the consecutive layer (B) resurfacing. Then if we remove layer (B), the next layer to resurface will be (C). And the cycle repeats itself begining with layer (A)again.

So, in order to achieve permanent hair removal, one can see logicially it requires three treatments (Laser Removing (A), then waiting for the next layer (B) to develop and removing it's layer, and finally laser removing layer (C).
